It is important as e-scooter and e-bike become popular that we obey some Footpath Safety for personal mobility devices (PMDS) ride rules including:
- PMDs are allowed on footpaths, shared paths, and bicycle paths but riders must always give way to
pedestrians - PMD speed limits are 15 km/h on footpaths and 25 km/h on shared paths, bicycle paths, and roads.
PMD users must not exceed these limits and should ride with care for others - Riders under 16 can use low-powered e-scooters (max 200 watts and 10 km/h) but must wear
helmets. - Scooters over 25 km/h are motor vehicles and cannot be used on public streets unless registered and licensed
