University Research Study: The University of Tasmania is currently conducting a research study on Active School Commuting among primary school children in the Burnie, Circular Head, and Devonport regions ( This is the first research of its kind in Northwest Tasmania. Active School Commuting Benefits: Walking and cycling to school have numerous health and social benefits for children, including promoting physical activity and body fitness. Call for Participation: Parents and Year 1 to 6 primary schoolchildren are invited to participate in an online survey and interviews to share their views on Active School Commuting. Participants have the chance to win a $50 gift voucher for completing the survey, as well as additional vouchers for participating in interviews. We will also be working with primary schools, local councils and councillors, bringing the ideas and thoughts from all these groups will allow us to find feasible strategies to make our children more active.
